Nice day in the cold

Ah, a free afternoon, and I was able to get out to play. Although I was hoping to meet up with D-Ray and Whit, the stars didn’t align and I missed them at Little Mulberry.  Oh well…

Starting from the Fence road interest, I had a casual lap around the horse trail. I was really happy with my time of 1 hr and 7 minutes.  Especially considering this was the first time I’ve been out in a couple weeks. I then did a lap of the Ravine Loop.  I would have liked to do one more, and actually felt up for it, but alas, had some errands to run.

One thing I really noticed in the Ravine loop, where previously I’d probably have been sucking wind (having already done 6+ miles), I felt pretty good. Given that during the last few weeks, I’ve been doing a little bit of weight lifting and lunges/squats, I’m guessing that helped.  Yay…I’ll keep it up and see how it goes.

For dinner, we tried a new place, Garden Variety Salads. It was pretty good. Prices were about what we expected for a salad place. The bonus was the owner is a marathoner. They had a sign up for starting a Saturday morning group run, so we started talking.  They’re planning a 1.5 mile and 3 mile loop from their store, starting at 9:30 or 10:30. (And hey, it won’t interfere with the Runners Fit group.)

And for dessert, the moment we’ve been waiting for…today was the annual cookie exchange, so we got cookies. Lots of cookies.  Some will go to work with me on Monday, but we get to sample them first.
